About Juancho

Hi, I’m Juancho. Let me show you where the good coffee is.

I’m Juan Carlos, a Venezuelan barista driven by passion. My coffee story began in 2011, when my brother Miguel Ángel and I opened Guayoyito Café in La Victoria, near Caracas. We knew nothing about coffee, and that’s where we learned to love it, to serve it, and to discover the huge world behind every cup.

Since 2012 I’ve trained with great mentors like Pietro Carbones, Jesús E. Bottini and Daniel Soria, and at the Escuela Venezolana del Café with Paramaconi Acosta and Jannina Pojan. Today I’m certified by the Specialty Coffee Association, and I’ve written about coffee for Sabores magazine.

In 2020 I moved to Chicago and found a coffee shop on every corner. That’s how @juanchocoffee was born: visiting those cafés and telling you, “come here, this is where you get great coffee.”

“I never say I’m a barista. That way I see how they’d treat you.”
